What is lipedema?
Lipedema is a lipodystrophy, i.e. a disorder of fat distribution: fat cells are found in areas where they do not usually proliferate.
It mainly affects the lower limbs (especially the calves and thighs), but the disease can also affect the upper limbs (arms and forearms).
The disease is frequently associated with pressure-like pain in the calves and thighs. A tendency to bruise easily on the legs is also common.
How does the procedure work?
The procedure is generally performed in 2 stages: first, liposuction of the calf and knee, then, in a second stage, liposuction of the thigh.
It is a tumescent liposuction, i.e. assisted by fluid infiltration (saline solution with adrenaline).
The aim is to preserve the lymphatic tissue in order to reduce lymphedema.
What is the recovery like?
Post-operative course
After the operation, walking is possible and recommended. Lymphatic drainage is very helpful to reduce swelling and the associated pain. Compression tights or stockings must be worn for one month.
What results can you expect?
Results can be assessed after a minimum of 3 months, and preferably after 6 months.

Approximately €7,000 to €9,000
A detailed quote is given after the consultation. For a cosmetic procedure, French law requires a cooling-off period of at least 15 days between the quote and the surgery.
