Brow lift in Bordeaux
A brow lift corrects drooping eyebrows (brow ptosis), which give the eyes a tired or sad look. It repositions the brow to open up and refresh the eyes, often in combination with an upper blepharoplasty.

What is a brow lift?
A brow lift (or eyebrow lift) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that corrects brow ptosis, i.e. the drooping of the eyebrows over time. Dr Maxence Thomas performs it at the Clinique Esthétique Aquitaine in Bordeaux.
When the eyebrows, and particularly their outer part, descend, they weigh down the upper eyelid and give the eyes a tired, sad or stern look, even at rest.
The aim is to reposition the brow at a natural height in order to open up and refresh the eyes, without freezing facial expression.
How does the procedure work?
After a careful examination of the forehead, eyebrows and eyelids, the surgeon and the patient choose the most suitable approach:
→ Temporal approach: short incisions hidden in the scalp at the temples are used mainly to lift the tail of the brow.
→ Suprabrow approach: the incision is placed just above the eyebrow, along its upper edge.
A brow lift can be combined with an upper blepharoplasty, as brow descent and excess eyelid skin are frequently linked. The choice of technique is discussed during the consultation according to each patient's anatomy and expectations.
Before the operation:
→ As before any surgical procedure, a complete preoperative assessment is carried out.
→ The patient must stop smoking and discontinue any blood-thinning treatment, following the instructions of the surgeon and the anesthesiologist.
What is the recovery like?
Type of anesthesia
Usually local, for both the temporal and the suprabrow approach. General anesthesia remains possible if you prefer it.
Scars
Depending on the approach, the scars are hidden in the scalp at the temples (temporal approach) or placed along the upper edge of the eyebrow (suprabrow approach). They must be protected from the sun.
Post-operative course
Swelling and bruising of the forehead and eyelids are common during the first few days. A feeling of tightness or numbness of the forehead and scalp may be felt temporarily.
Recovery
A period of social downtime should be expected; its length will be specified during your consultation, depending on the chosen technique.
What results can you expect?
The eyes look more open and more rested once the swelling has subsided. The final result can be assessed after a few months.

A detailed quote is given after the consultation. For a cosmetic procedure, French law requires a cooling-off period of at least 15 days between the quote and the surgery.

Over time, however, the natural aging process continues.
Recovery is usually not very painful and is well controlled with common painkillers. A feeling of tightness in the forehead or headaches may be felt during the first few days.
As with any procedure, there are risks, and complications may occur: bleeding, hematoma, infection, wound dehiscence, scarring problems. More specifically, there may be brow asymmetry, altered sensation of the forehead and scalp (numbness, tingling) or scar alopecia (hair loss along the scar). These complications are uncommon and are managed by the surgeon during post-operative check-ups. An information sheet from the French Society of Plastic Surgery will be given to you before the procedure.
