What is liposuction?
Liposuction (or lipoaspiration) removes localized fat deposits.
It is generally performed to:
→ Reduce saddlebags
→ Slim the stomach and/or hips
→ Refine the legs, knees, thighs, ankles and arms
How does the procedure work?
The surgeon makes small incisions of a few millimeters to pass a suction cannula into the hypodermis. Depending on the area to be treated, 1 to 5 incisions are needed to remove the deep fat evenly.
The amount of fat removed should not exceed 5% of body weight.
Recent advances, particularly in superficial liposuction with very fine cannulas, mean that the skin over the treated area no longer suffers from liposuction: on the contrary, its appearance can be improved by the skin retraction generated by a properly performed superficial liposuction.

What is the recovery like?
Type of anesthesia
Either local, locoregional or general, depending on the extent of liposuction and the number of areas to be treated...
Scars
2 to 3 scars per treated area measuring a few millimeters (just enough to let the suction cannula pass). They are therefore almost undetectable after 12 months, especially since they are hidden at the level of natural anatomical folds.
Post-operative course
Swelling and bruising appear in the treated areas. The pain is generally mild, but may be more severe and require pain medication. The patient should wear compression garment for approximately 4 weeks.
What results can you expect?
The result is visible as soon as the swelling has gone down and the bruising has faded. However, you have to wait 6 months to appreciate the final result of liposuction.
The result is long-lasting. Removing deep fat leads to a significant slimming of the treated areas. However, weight must remain stable to maintain the benefit of the procedure.
How much does it cost?
From €4,250
A detailed quote is given after the consultation. For a cosmetic procedure, French law requires a cooling-off period of at least 15 days between the quote and the surgery.
FAQ
Scars are minimal and fade over time. They measure less than 1 cm and are located in easily hidden areas.
Depending on the number of areas to be treated, there are different types of anesthesia: local, local with sedation, block anesthesia (epidural or spinal) or general anesthesia. The best option will be chosen depending on the patient and the areas to be treated.
The duration of the procedure depends largely on the size of the areas to be treated, as well as on the amount of fat to be removed. It ranges from about 30 minutes to 3 hours.
Depending on the extent of the operation, the patient may leave during the day or stay in the clinic overnight.
The best results are obtained when the fat is localized and the skin is not stretched and still has good elasticity. Liposuction reduces localized fat volumes and improves the body's silhouette.
The result is long-lasting. Removing deep fat leads to a significant slimming of the treated areas. However, weight must remain stable to maintain the benefit of the procedure.
Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the patient may experience mild to moderate pain in the first two days after surgery. However, the pain is generally bearable and can be easily controlled with the help of common pain relievers.
As with any procedure, there are risks, and complications may occur (bleeding, infection, wound dehiscence, scarring problems, etc.). They are uncommon and can be managed promptly by the surgeon during post-operative check-ups. An information sheet from the French Society of Plastic Surgery will be given to you before the procedure.
